EXCHANGE SEMMESTER 2018 -

UNIVERSITY FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS, ROCHESTER

The brief states; “The Flou Atelier focuses on soft sewing, where traditionally crepe de chine, georgette, mousseline, lace and other fragile or unstructured fabrics are used. The Flou is about the fabric handle and its relationship to the drape, the hang, the cut, the garment construction, the finishing methods - and the true of garment is tightly interdependent with all these vital techniques”. In response to the Flou Syllabus, I will explores the innovative and creative practises of designers in utilising both bias cut and fabric manipulations to successfully create light weight garments. My Inspiration focuses on the large and natural formations of rocks, where I examine both their infinite structure yet fragile fluidity and flow. Inspiration, historical research, trend research and drape practise have come together thought this unit to explore both innovative design and methodologies in reference to manipulations and bias.
